How good is your mental health?
Good mental health underpins everything we do, how we think, feel, act and behave.
as endorsed by The Royal Society for Public Health RSPH whose work includes improving the understanding of mental health issues.
RSPH has released a new government report today where it comments that by engaging with other workers far beyond those we would normally associate with spreading public health messages, “not only might we help support these individuals to improve their own health and wellbeing, but reaching out to the people they interact with could be significant”.
In essence it is saying that workers who have direct contact with the general public, such as barbers, hairdressers, pub and restaurant staff, just to name but a few, could assist in a vital role of helping our wellbeing, given appropriate training.
Are we more likely to engage with these individuals and could it work?
Coincidentally the theme on Victoria Derbyshire’s news and current affairs magazine, yesterday 20 July 2015 discussed mental health issues with guests including Ruby Wax and Dr Liam Fox MP and this is still available to view.
